I got a job! Full-time, with benefits and everything!
The company I've been working part-time for, for four years (and who saved beaucoup bucks keeping me part-time for four years), made me full-time the beginning of this month (but I didn't find out until last Thursday, apparently they forgot to tell me). All I had to do was threaten to leave -- I told them last month I had a full-time opportunity and needed to take it, so sorry, but I gotta go... and they started screaming. Seems they have lots of work coming up and needed me to stay. So they finally got off the dime and made me full time.
Sheez. Anyway, it's a huge relief. I've been looking for full-time work for nearly two years, and the money's been tight. So we can pay the credit cards off (eventually -- but now we have hope), add to the savings account, and maybe even get some work done in the yard, like finishing the privacy fence.

What can I say about insurance companies that owe you for repairs? I'm sure Vermont molassas moves quicker in the winter. I finally received a check this month that covers the total repairs. Kind of interesting in that normally the cost vs. the value of the motorcycle would dictate a total loss, and less payment. However, I'm not complaining. Should be in the repair bay this week, getting the needed parts and work done to make it rideable on the street.
You know, parents can be funny. Not so much funny "ha-ha", but funny peculiar. I told Dad that I could get it fixed and he said basically, "I think you should get rid of it and maybe get another". Oh? Cool...he won't object if I get another! Maybe he had one of those funny feelings i.e precognition or sumthin, but it struck me as odd, coming from him. However, I'd been lusting for a K1200GT, just didn't want two motorcycles, and the K75 was really enough for what I needed, and enjoyed riding it.
With three weeks gone by and no responses from the insurance company(s), 1.9% interest and the first 5 payments paid by BMW (and the occasional "Go sit on it" from the dealer where the K75 was waiting to be fixed)...I bought a new one. Boy, oh boy, was it big! At least for the first couple of weeks it was. It seems to have taken on a more normal size since then. One month and 1983 miles. Guess I enjoy it as much as the other one. Whee!
A co-worker expressed interest in buying the K75 without the cosmetic work being done. He has worked on fiberglass and ABS plastic for years, so the cosmetic (and probably 90% of the repair costs) he'll do himself. The sale price is probably a lot less than what I could get for it with the cosmetics not fixed, but that's really ok by me. He pays the get-it-running costs above the agreed price, and it's his. And, to boot, it's not a salvage title, which happens when vehicles get totaled. Downside to a salvage title is that the value of the vehicle is diminished just because, and in some cases, insurance companies won't sell collision or comprehensive policies on salvage-titled vehicles. So, it has a new home waiting for it once it's ridable. Sometime next week I expect.
Medical stuff. I wasn't that badly hurt, all things considered. Low speed (25-30), good gear, and I landed in an extremely lucky manner. Right knee hurt for a couple of weeks, X-ray's showed nothing amiss with the knee, and the pain went away. I've been seeing a chiropractor, who has asked if I'm feeling any better, and at best, only slightly. But, I didn't feel that bad to begin with, except the knee. No neck or back issues at all, and he agrees that everything seems to be in place. Last scheduled chiropractic visit is tomorrow. Next step is to let the insurance folks know how the medical has come out, and see if they pay pain and suffering.

I expect that when I explain what a pain it was dealing with the property settlement, they'll turn a deaf ear. Ah, well...I'm patient. It helps to be patient with insurance companies that owe you something.
I replaced the pants and jacket as well as the helmet. Good insurance, I think. Just in case something happens again (fingers crossed). But, all in all, things are looking good.
I looked for a good picture of the bike on the web, but couldn't find a decent one. However, (heh...) if you can find a May '03 issue of Playboy, check out page 108. Yeah I bought the issue, and yes...honest...I bought it for the motorcycle picture. That <u>is</u> my story, and I'm sticking to it!
My daughter Erin, while telling me she liked the way the old one looked, said the new one looks "Sassy". I didn't know that word existed in her vocabulary.

Help.
I have PhotoShop Pro (version 7.2) at work and I'm trying to figure out how to shrink the size of a couple of photos I have. The size right now is about 2 Meg, and my goal is to get something the size of the avitars some of us have on the postings here. I'm sure it's simple, but I'm having absolutely no luck in shrinking them down, size wise. I can reduce the visual sizing, but it saves the same amount..and I think I'm repeating myself. Frustration does that to me.

Find image size in the menus up top. Reduce the dpi to around 72, making sure size and dpi arn't linked, there is a box that is or isn't checked on the screen to link it. You can tell if it is linked two ways, there is a arrow from size to dpi connecting them and when you change the dpi it doesn't change the file size.
Your file size is based on two things.
1. Photo size (example: 3"x4")
2. Color density aka Dots per inch aka dpi (example: computer screens will only show 72dpi, so if your picture is 3x4 and 300dpi then it will be around 14x20 on the screen when someone looks at it at their computer.)
So to decrease picture size, you must reduce dpi and height and width.

I think that worked. However...instructions on the site say to upload the custom avitar, then select "Custom" from the pull down menu. Seems straight forward enough, it uploaded the picture, then proceeded to list all the available avitars, except (you guessed it!) "Custom". Maybe they've turned the option off?</font>

Nah, you just got confused, same thing happened to me. [img]wink.gif[/img]
Instead of going to the list of avatars, look over to the right. It is there that you select the custom option. It's easy once you see it, but it is hidden in plain site...
